In-Person Lessons

Michnari offers covid-safe lessons. Just like putting on a seatbelt and stopping at red lights, precautions aren’t intended to stop us from living our lives, but to keep ourselves and each other safe along the way. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, or if you have accessibility needs that aren’t addressed here.

How it works

Lessons are offered outside.

  • Location is flexible within Philadelphia and the tri-state area to accommodate for needs such as travel, wheelchair access, and bathrooms. Michnari can suggest a location or work with you to find one.
  • A mask (KN95/similar) will be worn by the instructor at all times. Michnari has multiple years of experience successfully teaching in schools and private lessons while masked. Since students will not be able to mask if playing a brass instrument, an outdoor setting is preferred to increase airflow.
  • Free rescheduling is available in cases of inclement weather.
  • If you or anyone in your household is sick (be it covid, a cold, or something else), or has recently come into contact with someone who is sick, please let Michnari know and he will be happy to reschedule your lesson free of charge.

Lessons are 30 minutes or 1 hour long (rates listed as 30min/1hr), charged on a sliding scale. No questions asked, just let Michnari know which rate works for you.

Community supported: $25/$45

Standard: $40/$65

Instruments

Trombone, trumpet, tuba, euphonium, marching percussion, drum set.

Age and experience

Ages 6 and up. Brass instrument lessons available for any level of expertise. Marching percussion and drum set lessons available for beginners.

Teaching Philosophy

Michnari’s teaching philosophy centers students as active participants in developing their future. We will cover fundamentals that are vital to developing musicianship: mental channeling, sound concept formation, and diagnostic methodology. From there, lesson formatting and topics will be fluid, tailored to each student. Students will deepen their understanding from a practical and philosophical perspective. The ultimate goal is for students to feel fulfilled by what they were able to accomplish and eager to press forward.
